3D Shapes & Nets

Using nets made of rectangles and triangles to represent 3D shapes. Analyzing the plane sections of 3D shapes and understanding that the cross-section of a 3D shape is a 2D shape.

Mapped to CCSS Section# 6.G.A.4, 7.G.A.3

Represent three-dimensional figures using nets made up of rectangles and triangles, and use the nets to find the surface area of these figures. Apply these techniques in the context of solving real-world and mathematical problems. Describe the two-dimensional figures that result from slicing three-dimensional figures, as in plane sections of right rectangular prisms and right rectangular pyramids.
