Solutions of Equations
Determining the number of solutions for an equation or a word problem and identifying equations that have the specified number of solutions. Finding the missing value in an equation when the solution is provided. Relating intersecting lines and parallel lines with the number of solutions of an equation. Relating the number of solutions with lines on a graph and identifying the graph that represents the solution to a word problem.

Give examples of linear equations in one variable with one solution, infinitely many solutions, or no solutions. Show which of these possibilities is the case by successively transforming the given equation into simpler forms, until an equivalent equation of the form x = a, a = a, or a = b results (where a and b are different numbers).
